Data, data everywhere – but how do we manage our most valuable asset?

From its first days as an unlicensed Italian café to the time when Marlene Dietrich, Laurence Olivier and Noel Coward would refer to it as their local, The Ivy Group has been synonymous with London’s glittering past. The Ivy Market Grill is no different, a fabulous location for this intriguing and impeccably timed Dining Club.

In this fast emerging digital era, data is considered to be the most valuable asset that any company can own and exploit for its competitive advantage. But how effective are we at capturing, storing, processing and using such data? With the explosion of data sources, both within and external to an organisation, the challenge we all face is in an increasingly regulated environment is to find better ways of improving our data governance, classification, storage, and processing skills.

According to analysts such as Gartner, some 50% of all data collected and stored is redundant to a company’s needs – what we refer to as ‘dark data’. Only 20% is mission critical. The implications are clear. Much time and money is wasted today in storing and accessing the main body of data, leading to IT inefficiencies, regulatory and compliance risks, and lost time by professionals in extracting value from this critical resource.

However, powerful new techniques are emerging such as Hitachi’s ‘Dark Data Assessment’ that can provide much needed visibility, accessibility and efficiency improvements to the central task of data management.

The opportunity is to eliminate up to 50% of storage and processing costs associated with data redundancy, through improved data governance, classification and storage ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements.

Please join us for what promises to be an incredibly thought-provoking evening, all within the Private Dining room of one of London’s most fashionable restaurants.
