Protect and comply: cyber security for critical infrastructure

A dedicated event for operators of essential services and key digital providers

If the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) sucked up most of the oxygen of publicity in 2018, the less promoted Networking and Information Systems (NIS) Directive is likely to be equally impactful in 2019, especially for those running critical infrastructure and essential services.

Both regulations passed major milestones last May and both come with large potential fines – up to €17m or 4 percent of global turnover in the case of the NIS Directive. And while the latter looks at both physical and cyber resilience, the interplay between the two is becoming unavoidable. As operational technology (OT) becomes increasingly internet-connected so the risk of cyber attack also increases.

It is in this context that we have convened a CBR Dining Club event, in association with ForeScout Technologies, to explore four interlocking cyber security objectives central to the successful running of critical infrastructure and essential services. We’ll discuss managing security risks, protecting against cyber attacks, detecting cyber security events and minimising the impact of cybersecurity.

In the course of the discussion we’ll investigate the security issues likely to impact your organisation. These include:

-The increasing number of potential entry points for cyber adversaries
-The likelihood of unplanned downtime
-The cost and effort involved in managing converged environments
-The number and diversity of people involved in defining and ensuring security; and
-The difficulty of ensuring compliance

If you have responsibility for cyber security and resilience in your organisation, then this is the event for you – an evening of insightful talks, great conversation, peer networking and fine dining.
