Finding the advantage - delivering operational resilience in financial services

Date: 6th Sep 2018

Venue: The Ned, 27 Poultry, London EC2R 8AJ

Join CBR and IBM at The Ned, one of London’s most amazing spaces. Set in the former Midland Bank building in the heart of the City, The Ned was designed by Sir Edwin ‘Ned’ Lutyens in 1924. The perfect setting for what should be a fabulous evening of fine dining, networking and discussion.

As summer turns to autumn risk and resilience take centre stage for the finance sector again. Framed by ‘Building the UK financial sector’s operational resilience’, a discussion paper jointly authored by the Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority.

The paper builds on previous regulatory activity and demonstrates the increased expectations of an organisation’s ability to manage through and recover from an impact to business operations – and responsibility lies firmly with board and senior management. The outcome will likely be new regulation designed to protect consumers, markets, financial institutions and the UK economy.

CBR, in association with IBM, are hosting a one-off Dining Club event with stakeholder firms across the sector to provide an opportunity for discussion with industry peers and resilience experts as you decide whether and how to respond to the regulators’ discussion paper in advance of the deadline for contributions.

The discussion paper poses some of the most exacting operational resilience questions that today’s financial services businesses must answer. Questions such as:

• How do boards and senior management currently prioritise operational resilience?
• How do they gain assurance over the operational resilience of their firm?
• What new considerations will need to be addressed in measuring “impact tolerance” levels rather than current operational resilience and risk management frameworks?

At this especially convened CBR Dining Club we will explore these questions and also consider how firms might develop their operational resilience in a way that offers a competitive advantage and increased profitability. If you work in financial services and have responsibility for – or influence over – risk strategies, operational resilience or technology implementation and management, this is an event not to be missed.
